Abstract

UZIN, María Magdalena. Cronotopos del incesto en dos películas argentinas. Estud. - Cent. Estud. Av., Univ. Nac. Córdoba [online]. 2012, n.27, pp.59-69. ISSN 1852-1568.

This paper explores the role of cinematographic narratives as a «technology of gender» (de Lauretis, 1996 and 1992), a role of production and assignment of social meanings to gender identities and their vanishing lines. To that end, we deal with two Argentinean movies from the first decade of the 21st century: El aura (The aura) (2005), by Fabián Bielinsky and La ciénaga (The swamp) (2001) by Lucrecia Martel, studying the construction of an identitarian chronotope (Bajtin, 1989), constituted by different space, but both characterized by the ambiguity between the closed and the open, the fragmentarity of time narrative. This narrative builds equally fragmentary identities, which the characters occupy not as fixed «spaces» but variable ones, in narrative paths that don't close, don't reach an end, but that seem to choose between the suspension in a state of confusion and a vanishing point that opens in the space of the incest phantom. Vanishing point that drives them away from their previous identities but doesn't reach a closing point , that leaves the possibilities of that path open, specially for the young and vulnerable female characters of Diana (in El aura) and Isabel (in La ciénaga).

Keywords : gender; film - Argentinean; chronotope; incest.
