Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the way that Mario Roberto Santucho built his leadership in the PRT-ERP organization. To achieve this goal, firstly, we'll considerer his confrontation with the internal groups called «morenistas» and «neomorenistas», advertising a more practical than theoretical type of militant. Secondly, we'll refer to the cult of personality that was developed in the organization and resulted from the belief that he was the archetype of the «new man» of Ernesto Guevara. Last but not least, we'll analyze the mechanisms that he used to strengthen his position, and redirect the discussion and the critics.
