The Tucuman case is generally known as one of the centers of armed organizations' activity, especially from 1974. However, this article intends to investigate the role of the working class in Tucuman and the causes of their struggle highlighting the closure of sugar mills in 1966 and its social consequences. This policy is the main reason for the eruption of social conflict in the province even before the Cordobazo in 1969 and the workers struggles continued until the beginning of March 24, 1976 dictatorship. These facts contradict the statements that deny or minimize the process upsurge in social struggle during the '60s and '70s and the important role the labor movement and other popular sectors played in these protests.
