Abstract In this article we reconstruct and analyze the origins of the Workers' Revolutionary Party- People's Revolutionary Army (PRT-ERP) in the province of Mendoza, at middle of 1973. The sources used to this research are self-prepared interviews and local newspapers. The analysis discuss with the local hegemonic historiography that has imposed a notion of traditional tranquility in Mendoza, wich assign to revolutionary militants the image of infiltrators. The work supports the hypothesis that the birth of this revolutionary organization in the province was due to a politicization process of large local sectors.

Keywords : PRT-ERP; Mendoza; warfare; recent past.
