Abstract

ORBE, Patricia A.. Autonomía, reestructuración institucional y «desperonización»: el impacto de la «Revolución Libertadora» en la comunidad universitaria bahiense (1955-1957). Sociohistórica [online]. 2008, n.23-24, pp.137-162. ISSN 1852-1606.

The study of Argentine National Universities has awakened the increasing interest of historians during the last several years. This is due to the role of such institutions in the promotion and development of discourses and practices with strong impact on politics and society, especially during the second half of the 20th century. This article studies the institutional and political changes imposed over the academic community of the University of Bahía Blanca as a result of the 1955 military coup and the program of «deperonization» implemented by the dictatorship that followed it. In the first place, the articles focus on the troublesome history of the «Instituto de Tecnología del Sur» (South Institute of Technology) before the 1955 coup, its main actors and their positions in the political and ideological context. Further, it analizes how and by which means the military regime reshaped the academic community formed by professors, graduates and students under a new institutional and juridical status.
