Abstract

DOMINELLA, Virginia Lorena. The war of gods: Ecclesial conflicts and political struggles in Bah ía Blanca among 1969 and 1975. Sociohistórica [online]. 2016, n.38, pp.00-00. ISSN 1852-1606.

During the 1960s and 70s, the Catholic Church was marked by a double dynamics: on the one hand, the theological and pastoral adjournment of some sectors, and on the other hand, the resistance and reaction within the institution. This article proposes to rebuild and analyze a series of conflicts which, in such scenario, took place in Bahía Blanca, attending the role played by the different actors involved in them, their ideology and practices, as well as the social and political impact of such disputes. In this sense, the article attempts to show that those confrontations had peculiar characteristics in a city with a historical presence of the Armed Forces, where the civil and military spheres are strongly related, and where a hegemonic media conferred itself the role of the formation of public opinion. This approach uses a qualitative methodology and confronts diverse kinds of oral and written sources

Keywords : Chatolic Renewal; Ecclessial conflicts; Political impact; Bahía Blanca; 1970s.
