Abstract
LAINO SANCHIS, Fabricio. Abuelas, nietos/as e H.I.J.O.S. frente a la impunidad: activismos transgeneracionales por el derecho a la identidad (1990-2004). Sociohistórica [online]. 2023, n.51, e184. ISSN 1852-1606. http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.24215/18521606e184.
Some years before the appearance of H.I.J.O.S. (Hijos e Hijas por la Identidad y la Justicia contra el Olvido y el Silencio - Sons and Daughters for Identity and Justice against Oblivion and Silence), a group of sons and daughters of the disappeared had already made their appearance in the public sphere. They were united by a shared trajectory and cause: they were mostly grandchildren of members of Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo (Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo) and their public action was aimed at supporting the struggle for the restitution of appropriate children during the State terrorism in Argentina. In this paper, we will investigate that early experience of youth human rights activism. Based on the survey of diverse sources and interviews by ourselves, we will analyze the repertoire of contention and public discourses of these youth actors, their role within Abuelas, and their interaction with other groups (such as H.I.J.O.S.). This analysis will allow us to examine in what way the proposed intergenerational dialogue contributed (not without conflicts) to the formulation of new perspectives and modes of action for the cause of Abuelas.
