Abstract

FIGUEROA, Gastón. España en la acción y el pensamiento de Aníbal Ponce. Sociohistórica [online]. 2023, n.51, e187. ISSN 1852-1606.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.24215/18521606e187.

This work analyzes Aníbal Ponce's perspectives on Spain in the interwar period. From an approach that combines the history of ideas (understood as discourse analysis), and intelectual history (considering the itineraries and networks of intelectual sociability), we understand Ponce's conceptions of Spain as a tense and dynamic space. Here his convictions converge, both with operations of intelectual self-legitimation, and with tactical / political needs of the conjuncture.

In Ponce's conceptions there is a growing relativization of his initial anti-Hispanicism. This becoming is representative of the tensions that crossed the Argentine cultural field in a period marked, both by the crisis of positivist liberalism and the radicalization of the debates around the nation, as well as by the growing commitment of certain fringes of the intelligentsia to the cause of international communism and antifascism. Considerations about the old metrópolis occupied a preponderant place in these processes.

Keywords : Aníbal Ponce; Spain; Communism; Antifascism.
