Abstract

FEDERACION ARGENTINA DE CARDIOLOGIA. Comité de Insuficiencia Cardíaca e Hipertensión Pulmonar. Design of the HINPULSAR Registry (HIpertensióN PULmonar y aSociaciones en la ARgentina): Pulmonary hypertension and associations in Argentina. Insuf. card. [online]. 2010, vol.5, n.3, pp.126-131. ISSN 1852-3862.

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a disease with low prevalence, but with a poor prognosis. An important advance in the knowledge of pulmonary hypertension (PH) has been obtained in the last 25 years based mostly in the information provided by several international registries. However, some important issues should be taken to generalizing those results to a different population, such as regional and geographic differences, the exclusive participation of referral centers, the requirement for the inclusion of right heart catheterization, and the limitation to cases of PAH, mainly idiopathic. The Argentinean Federation of Cardiology provides the adequate support to developing a survey in an extensive territory. Based in all theses aspects, the present registry has been designed to trying to answer relevant questions related to PH in our country: epidemiology, clinical profile, diagnostic and management strategies, referral pattern, treatment and prognosis.
