Abstract. BASIC ID of the Human Dog-Companion: A Theoretical Review in Anthrozoology Guided by the Multimodal Approach. Petkeeping seems to have reached unprecedented levels in recent decades. Despite its massiveness persists in our culture a trend to trivialize the bonds that human establish with other animals, or to question these as the result of a human deficit condition. This would have discouraged scientific research on human-animal bonds. The anthrozoology findings in human-dog interaction are discussed in relation to Lazarus multimodal approach. Human-dog bonds include potential benefits in all modals of human personality. We discuss about the legitimacy of its study, and stress the importance of its recognition in the scientific development.
