Abstract

ESTRAGO, Alfonso. The “new style of relationships”: a glimpse into the future of organizational management?. SaberEs [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.1, pp.1-19. ISSN 1852-4418.

Abstract. The New Style of Relationships (NSR) is a management model for organizations (and for their linkage with the environment) that represents one of the most radical configurations of economic democracy. The NSR has been applied in more than 100 organizations of up to 3,000 people, that perform in various economic sectors, under different legal forms of property control (ordinary private companies, cooperatives, associations, and foundations), and within several cultural environments such as the Basque Country, Brazil, India, Morocco, South Africa or Mexico. The article offers an in-depth analytical approach to the philosophical, theoretical, and practical pillars on which NSR is based, and the interrelationships between them that allow the attainment of a novel and economically efficient organizational functioning. In addition, the main organizational and social results achieved by the entities that adopted this model are presented, concluding with reflections on the potential paradigm shift it represents, and its possibilities of future expansion.

Keywords : Economic Democracy; Management; Horizontal Organization.
