Abstract
IBANEZ MARTIN, María; ZABALOY, María F. and GUZOWSKI, Carina. Poverty or energy indigence? A first exploration for Argentina. SaberEs [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.1, pp.53-84. ISSN 1852-4418.
Abstract. Energy services enhance human well-being; thus energy has a central role, as it enables their satisfaction. A broad conception of energy poverty implies deprivations in energy and energy services access. The objective of the paper is to explore the evolution of energy poverty in Argentina between 2004-2015, through logistic models using data from the Permanent Household Survey. To this end, due to the restriction of information, a limited definition of the phenomenon is proposed, based exclusively on the choice of the material used for cooking. It is analyzed whether deprivations in other dimensions are statistically significant factors in the explanation of situations of energy poverty. Results show that the probability of a household facing energy difficulties is conditioned to the existence of multiple and simultaneous deprivations in other relevant aspects of well-being.
