Abstract

DIAZ, Joaquín. El uso de la poesía en la tradición oral moderna. Olivar [online]. 2012, vol.13, n.18, pp.113-134. ISSN 1852-4478.

In all cultures creation’s origins is manifested by the word, which is considered generic force of divine origin, founder and producer of all things both material and spiritual. Naming is an act of creation; create and name, then, become synonyms: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God". On these ancient beliefs the myths were generated, legendary tales where conformed and communication formulas where born. Indigenous cultures preserve beautiful oral legends, memories of ancient times made of poetic words. A poetry which main purpose it was to transmit history and myths. Songs that promote the permanence of genetic memory

Keywords : Oral literature; Traditional poetry; Myths; History; Legends.
