Abstract

ANA-AGUIAR, Gabriel de Santa. Researching from the museum. A case study about house museums in the Canary Islands. Rev. Mus. Antropol. [online]. 2023, vol.16, n.2, pp.177-186.  Epub Aug 31, 2023. ISSN 1852-060X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.31048/1852.4826.v16.n2.40125.

The current paper poses a reflection on the significance of the research activity in the heart of the museum planification, based on observations from a case study of ten house museums dedicated to important individuals in the history of the Canary Islands. Thus, the study constitutes a preliminary approach to a museum project focused on a notorious privateer from Tenerife, Amaro Pargo. It also highlights the need for museums to maintain a line of work dedicated to the links between the institution and the audience, in the same manner as it is established regarding the management of the collections and proper heritage.
