Abstract
AVILA, Carolina Álvarez and PALLADINO, Lucas. Casa de Piedra: misunderstandings and territorial conflicts over a sacred and patrimonial comechingón site in the province of Córdoba. Rev. Mus. Antropol. [online]. 2023, vol.16, n.2, pp.259-274. Epub Aug 31, 2023. ISSN 1852-060X. http://dx.doi.org/10.31048/1852.4826.v16.n2.40048.
We ethnographically analyze some conflicts and misunderstandings about Casa de Piedra, located between San Marcos Sierras and Capilla del Monte, in Punilla´s department, province of Córdoba. This is one of the most emblematic places in the area and a problematic site from the perspective of the communities comechingonas. Despite the fact that it currently legally belongs to a private owner, various social actors constantly visit it. The Municipality of San Marcos promots Casa De Piedra as a historical place and it is also exploited to carry out healings, reflection trips, among other new age practices. The existence of this multiple experiences and actors is conflictive both for the indigenous communities and the owner, and the dialogue between both urged us to address certain misunderstandings about the place. Following Viveiros de Castro’s “controlled misunderstandings” methodological proposal, we try to differentiate within what seems the same, what triggers other understandings and radical differences, specifically analyzing categories such as heritage and territory and their relationship with Casa de Piedra.
