Abstract

ALI, Sheila. New analysis of Cañada Honda pottery collection (Baradero, provincia de Buenos Aires). Rev. Mus. Antropol. [online]. 2024, vol.17, n.1, pp.21-36.  Epub Apr 30, 2024. ISSN 1852-060X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.31048/1852.4826.v17.n1.42865.

The archaeological locality of Cañada Honda is composed of seven sites or “paraderos” located in the Buenos Aires district of Baradero that were excavated more than half a century ago by José Bonaparte, Juan Pisano and their team. In these works, pre-Hispanic archaeological materials were extracted, among which pottery shows a high representation. The ceramic collection of this locality was analyzed by different researchers over time under different questions. This work presents the morphological, decorative and iconographic study of pottery with the aim of understanding the technological choices made by artisans in the past and discussing processes of social interaction in the lower basin of the Paraná river considering the associations that have been previously raised.

Keywords : Late Holocene; Hunter gatherer; Pottery; Museum collection.
