Bioethics is a relatively new discipline that consists of the systematic analysis of the human conduct with regard to medicine and biology. Its aims are to safeguard humans and their health, as well as to protect the environment and nature in general, following high principles and values. Scientific research involving humans is regulated by bioethical guidelines whose characteristics vary internationally and nationally. These guidelines are in general compulsory, namely, they must be observed. In this work, the main documents on bioethics universally accepted are briefly discussed, as well as others pertaining to the national scene.
