Abstract

AHUMADA, Marcelo  and  ESCALANTE, Eduardo. Validity of content of Moos' Coping Responses Inventory through multidimensional scaling. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.2, pp.17-26. ISSN 1852-7310.

The purpose of this research was to determine the validity of content of the Moos Coping Responses Inventory through multidimensional scaling. The inventory was administered to 102 adults and the multidimensional scaling was applied to the data obtained through the ALSCAL procedure of the SPSS statistical analysis 17.0 program version. It was observed that Moos' proposed conceptual frame was replicated in this sample, and two principal dimensions about Coping focus (presenting bipolarity between avoidance and closeness) and Coping method (presenting bipolarity between cognitivity and behavior) could be found. This allowed to conclude that the multidimensional scaling technique is useful when applying a multivariate analysis alternative method to the content validity of a psychological test.

Keywords : Validity of content; Coping; Multidimensional analysis.
