Abstract

SNEIDERMAN, Susana. Considerations on the reliability and validity of projective techniques. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.2, pp.93-110. ISSN 1852-7310.

On undertaking an approximative study on the scientific status of the projective instruments, the main questionings that arise regard their validity and, more so, their reliability. They are expected to meet the demands of a more quantitative structure. We will examine the paradigm in which the mentioned techniques are enclosed, in order to consider the meanings of validity and reliability within that frame. We will refer to the hypothetical deductive method and abduction as well as to the place of the researcher and to the importance of inter-rater reliability in qualitative research concerning diagnostic instruments. To conclude, we will demonstrate a validity inter-rater exercise.

Keywords : Projective instruments; Validity; Reliability.
