Abstract

SANCHEZ ANTILLON, Antonio. Analysis of the Narratives of Five Coordinators of Basic Ecclesial Communities to Identify the Ideals that Prompt Their Collective Actions in the Decade of the 80's with the David Liberman Algorithm (DLA) Method on the Narrative Level. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.2, pp.105-132. ISSN 1852-7310.

First, the research project is presented as well as the context in which the research is conducted. Then, the concept of the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) and their proposed ideals is introduced. After that, the theoretical principles regarding ideals, based on psychoanalytic theory, are presented, and the methodological basis of analysis of the narratives, based on the David Liberman algorithm, is outlined. Finally, the analysis of the narratives of five interviewees who participated in the Basic Ecclesial Communities in the 80's is shown, with the aim of highlighting the dominant ideals expressed in their narratives. The overall result of the analysis shows that the dominant ideal in the narratives was courage, as a fundamental attitude to undertake action inside and outside the group. The religious ideal appears as a pervading ideal that reunites members through activities such as retreats. This value is at the service of vindictive action to reclaim social service benefits, as well as of guidance for a conscience awareness ideal. The aesthetic ideal is manifested as subsidiary of the social civility guidance regarding leisure and recreational activities such as the theatre and sports. Finally the dispersion existing concerning ideals is analysed and discussed in the light both of bibliographic BEC references and of the theoretical framework. The conclusion shows the importance and prospects of the research.
