Abstract

KAZEZ, Ruth. Study in adulthood of a case of psychic change in early traumatic neurosis. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.1, pp.110-127. ISSN 1852-7310.

The aim of this case study is to characterize psychic change throughout a psychotherapeutic process on two levels, regarding clinical manifestations and the elements that sustain them: wishes and defense mechanisms. The stable and fluctuating psychic aspects in a patient with an early traumatic neurosis, product of a congenital sensory and motor handicap, are detected and described. This analysis allows to configure different segments in the studied trajectory, which present three types of psychic change: towards achievement of figurability, accidental and resilient.

Keywords : Case study; Psychic change; Wishes; Defense mechanisms; Early traumatic neurosis; Handicap.
