Abstract

FONTANA, M. L.; PEREZ, V. R.  and  LUNA, C. V.. Influence of geographical source on morphometric parameters of Prosopis alba seeds. Multequina [online]. 2015, vol.24, n.1, pp.33-45. ISSN 1852-7329.

In order to experimentally evaluate the influence of the geographical origin on the morphometric characteristics of seeds of Prosopis alba, the length, width, thickness, length-to-thickness ratio, volume, shape, color, weight and volumetric weight of seeds were studied on three different populations: Santiago del Estero at river Dulce´s shore, Formosa at Bermejo´s shore, and north of Salta province. The results showed significant differences in length, width and weight of seeds from different provenances. Among them, the weight of 1000 seeds presents the highest coefficient of variation, indicating that is the parameter with greater differences among the analyzed populations.
