Abstract
GOMEZ, Fabricio; VALENZUELA, Agustina and ACOSTA, J. C.. Registration of micro- and meso-plastics in the digestive tract of the vulnerable species Olivaichthys cuyanus (Siluriformes: Diplomystidae), in Los Patos mountain river, San Juan, Argentina. Multequina [online]. 2019, vol.28, n.1, pp.21-28. ISSN 1852-7329.
The presence of micro and meso-plastics in the stomach and intestine of specimens of otuno catfish (Olivaichthys cuyanus) from Los Patos River is documented for the first time in Barreal, a locality in the Province of San Juan, in the arid west of Argentina. These elements are potentially harmful for the species' survival, and can generate effects such as death due to strangulation and starvation or inflammation and tissue contamination. This record evidences bad management of waste of anthropic origin
