Abstract
PEREZ, Daniel R. et al. Environmental education, conservation and ecological restoration: debates in the xeric forest of Araucaria araucana (Molina) K. Koch, Neuquén, Argentina. Multequina [online]. 2021, vol.30, n.2, pp.73-86. ISSN 1852-7329.
Abstract This work presents the foundations and results of a process of education based on ecological restoration in a xeric forest of Araucaria araucana, a tree considered at risk of extinction. The effect of various anthropic disturbances has caused these forests to have a small number of individuals of A. araucana under 100 years old. In this context, a restoration project with educational content was proposed in Caviahue town, located in an area that protects xeric forests of this species. A first cycle of participatory planning-action-reflection was carried out, which included mainly plantations. The plantation activity exposed a conflict between social actors that was related to theoretical frameworks such as ecocentrism, ecocracy and conservationism. Teachers’ ideas about the experience and a discussion about participation in educational processes based on ecological restoration are presented.
