Abstract

The following document provides general data on the epidemiological profile of our country, prevalent diseases and population habits in relation to fish consumption. It provides a review and comparative analysis of the nutritional composition of fish obtained by means of fishing as well as aquaculture vs the composition of terrestrial animal species of habitual consumption. It comparatively rates the fat content of saltwater fish and aquaculture fish issuing critical opinion on the recommendations coming from the field of health to encourage fish consumption among the population.
