Abstract

JEREB, Silvia  and  GRUPO DE ESTUDIO DE NEUROCIENCIAS et al. Nutritional assessment tools in patients with Alzheimer and Parkinson diseases. Diaeta [online]. 2016, vol.34, n.156, pp.32-41. ISSN 1852-7337.

Parkinson and Alzheimer diseases are considered risk factors for protein energy malnutrition. Early detection of these risk situations is essential to contribute to the development of nutritional intervention strategies, thereby retarding the development of comorbidities that compromise the patient's health status and quality of life. The purpose of this document is to conduct a literature review of the different nutritional assessment tools used in patients undergoing these conditions in different stages. In the absence of a validated tool and due to the diversity of diagnoses found, the need for further research comes up in order to have adequate tools for nutritional assessment of patients at different stages of these diseases.

Keywords : Nutritional evaluation; Parkinson; Alzheimer; Nutritional status.
