Abstract

GABRIEL, Silvia Cristina. Elementos para una teoría política en Paul Ricoeur. Rev. latinoam. filos. [online]. 2006, vol.32, n.2, pp.287-315. ISSN 1852-7353.

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this article is to reconstruct Paul Ricoeur's political thought taking as a starting point the explicit influence that Hegel's Philosophy of Right has on his research. The criticism that the French philosopher levels against John Rawl's A Theory of Justice and Political Liberalism has, as a counterpart, a strong vindication of Sittlichkeit (ethicity), although dissociated from Geist (spirit). This partial rehabilitation of Hegelian political philosophy allows us to outline four possible axes on which his own project of a Theory of State turns: freedom, liberalism, democracy, and globalization. The article concludes with an attempt to strike a balance between solved and unsolved issues within Ricoeur's political studies.

Keywords : Critical phronesis; Teleologism; Alterity; Institution; State.
