Abstract

DIAZ LEGASPE, Justina. Problemas en las teorías de los hacedores de verdad. Rev. latinoam. filos. [online]. 2007, vol.33, n.1, pp.87-101. ISSN 1852-7353.

The truthmaker theory, as the old correspondence theory, tries to understand the relation binding facts and propositions which results in the truth or falsity of these lasts. There are two main versions of this theory: a weak one, explaining this relation by means of the concept of implication, and a strong one, based on the relation of "being true in virtue of". The main difference between them is the acceptance and rejection, respectively, of the Entailment Principle, according to which two propositions linked by entailment will be made true by the same fact. The present work shows how this acceptance leads the weak version to collapsing, which means that only the strong version has a chance to succeed.

Keywords : Truthmakers; Entailment; Facts; Truth.
