The attempt to work out a liberal theory of justice for the international sphere is one of the most interesting moves of contemporary political philosophy. The predominant position, the so called 'cosmopolitan', hold that the egalitarian features of liberalism, and specially its commitment with a scheme of wealth redistribution at the domestic level, can be applied to the international domain. However, the most influential liberal philosopher, John Rawls, rejects these conclusions. Rawls criticizes the proposal to apply a Difference Principle beyond domestic borders, and endorses a minimalist conception of human rights. I uphold in this paper that a correct understanding of the political liberalism doesn't lead to the conclusion defended by Rawls in the field of political and human rights. I hold that a more demanding -a more liberal- conception of international justice can be defended for the global level from the point of view of political liberalism.
