Abstract

LEMOS, Fabiano. Rev. latinoam. filos. [online]. 2013, vol.39, n.2, pp.213-243. ISSN 1852-7353.

This paper intends to elucidate the hesitating relation between Foucault and structuralist theory at the 1960s by recasting it, in a historical and political way, within the intellectual debate that tried to build, more or less successfully, a new grid of comprehensibleness to humanities from the linguistic model of Ferdinand de Saussure. The descritption of transformations that took place within this debate and the way they compelled Foucault to rethink his participation in it could help us to understand how explicit affinities towards structuralism in the beginning of the 1960s gives place to an insistent refusal of affiliation at the end of this decade.

Keywords : Foucault; structuralism; linguistics.
