Abstract

SILVEIRA, RONIE ALEXSANDRO TELES DA. Latin American Culture and Philosophy in the 21st Century. Rev. latinoam. filos. [online]. 2023, vol.49, n.1, pp.11-20. ISSN 1852-7353.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36446/rlf2023313.

The problem of the specificity of philosophical work in Latin America is discussed in terms of the cultural environment of the 21st century. Thus, no gesture of independence is claimed in this article in relation to the philosophy of European matrix. Although this is legitimate, it is always a fragile type of argumentation, an external criticism of little convincing capacity. Here we prefer to defend the need for an adjustment of philosophical work due to the failure of traditional philosophical procedures by postmodernity. This new situation drives us to themeize the cultural environment immediately available: Latin America.

Keywords : philosophy; Latin America; postmodernity.
