Abstract

WEINZETTEL, Pablo Ariel; DIETRICH, Sebastián; VARNI, Marcelo  and  SIERRA, Leonardo. hydrogeological investigation in a valley by means of the application of geoelectrical methods. Geoacta [online]. 2016, vol.41, n.2, pp.74-86. ISSN 1852-7744.

A geophysical survey was performed in an area located to the southwest of Tandil city by applying vertical electrical soundings (VES) and electrical resistivity tomography (ERT). The study site lies within a small alluvial valley where a golf course and a gated community are located. The objectives of this work were to determine the thickness of the phreatic aquifer and to estimate groundwater reserves. Both aspects are required to increase the groundwater supply for the whole complex. The study zone has the same difficulties as most of the Tandil city, where hydrogeological basement lies very close to surface, which complicates groundwater extraction. By combining VES and ERT methodologies, the aquifer geometry and the more suitable zones for new pumping wells construction were defined. In addition, groundwater recharge and reserves were estimated, which allowed evaluating daily pumping rates.
