One of the most used tools to demonstrate the susceptibility of space to a phenomenon and the ability to adapt is the Coastal Vulnerability Index. The sea level rise causes changes in coastal areas together with other climatic, biological and oceanographic variables makes clear the need to quantify these changes. Mar Chiquita beaches' geomorphology and anthropization are diverse. Therefore, its susceptibility levels are also distinct respect to different events. From south to north, this area includes the following coastal areas: Playa Dorada, Santa Elena, Santa Clara del Mar, Camet Norte, La Caleta, Mar de Cobo and Balneario Parque Mar Chiquita. This section is one of the most affected areas by erosion in the Buenos Aires Province. Erosion here is caused mainly by Sudestadas and constant changes in the coastal landscape resulting from urbanization and the coastal defense work. Planning the susceptibility levels of coastal areas increases the margin of maneuverability to unplanned events. This study was focused on determining the Coastal Vulnerability Index for the urbanized Mar Chiquita beaches by using aerial photographs, satellite images, bibliographic information and field trips to determinate those areas in which the municipal government should concentrate its efforts. The CVI values for the study area, resulted in the highest value for La Caleta with a CVI value of 25.98 and the lowest for Santa Clara del Mar with a CVI value of 2.45.
