Abstract

D'AGOSTINO, Valeria A.. State expansion, land policy and development of topographic distribution in Buenos Aires, Nineteenth Century. Poblac. soc. [online]. 2014, vol.21, n.2, pp.15-48. ISSN 1852-8562.

This article deals with the land policy of the provincial State of Buenos Aires and its relation with the topographic distribution formation process. We shall takeas starting point the territorial expansion context and the incorporation of land to the provincial economy which opened up after breaking the colonial link. It is assumed that, in this context, the relevance of land issues prompted an early distribution organization destined to: reconnaissance, survey and demarcation of territories of public and private domain, development of land register, control of the transference of public land to individuals, improvement of towns and suburbs layouts and the regulation of the activities carried out by the agents in charge, among others.

Keywords : State; Land policy; Census.
