Abstract

BUSSO, Mariana  and  PEREZ, Pablo Ernesto. Combining work and higher education. A privilege of young people from high-income sectors?. Poblac. soc. [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.1, pp.5-29. ISSN 1852-8562.

This paper enquires into a quite common topic in the field of Social Sciences: the relationship between education and work. We start from a very interesting fact which is part of Argentinean reality: middle and upper-class higher education students are more likely to combine work and study than lower-class ones. This research makes use of quantitative and qualitative strategies in order to account for different factors that come together to shape such reality: going from structural and demographic information to young people's perceptions and subjective motivations regarding education and work

Keywords : Young people; Education; Work; Social inequality; Poverty.
