Abstract

BENITEZ, Joaquín Andrés. The Limits of the right to the city as a prism to understand urban conflicts: collective action and language of rights in the Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. Poblac. soc. [online]. 2019, vol.26, n.1, pp.6-31. ISSN 1852-8562.  http://dx.doi.org/10.19137/pys-2019-260102.

This paper aims to explore possible meanings of the right to the city concept within  the frame of shared meanings of a number of urban social movements that do not explicitly voice this notion. Through qualitative research and in-depth interviews, we have found some elements that make us doubt its conceptual and explanatory relevance to understand these organization s demands. Instead, we propose to analyze these grievances as the expression of a language of rights.

Keywords : Language of rights; Right to the city; Urban social movements; Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires.
