In keeping with the national scene, Mendoza’s horticulture has been undergoing a considerable concentration process since the last decades of the 20th century. The present work inquires into the characteristics of the companies that promote this phenomenon, as well as their trajectories and expansion strategies. To this end, we have resorted to a predominantly qualitative approach based on in-depth interviews. One conclusion is that this phenomenon is supported by an expansion of large and medium-sized companies devoted to the cultivation of heavy vegetables in agrarian frontier areas.
