Abstract

DUQUE SUAREZ, León Felipe; TOBON RESTREPO, Alejandro  and  VIDAL RENDON MARIN, Héctor. Anclajes en la cultura popular antioqueña de Colombia. El caso de la relación trova-narcotráfico en las últimas décadas del siglo XX. Poblac. soc. [online]. 2022, vol.29, n.2, pp.187-214. ISSN 0328-3445.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.19137/pys-2022-290208.

During the 80s and 90s in the 20thcentury, drug trafficking in Medellín and Antioquia (Colombia) found in the trova and the troubadours a resource through which to connect with popular culture and a means of entertainment. By having or wanting to have control over the troubadours, drug traffickers made their power visible to popular culture. In turn, through popular imaginaries, the trova communicates, denounces or reconstructs the world of the mafia and the contexts and political confrontations that derive from it. This article analyzes the relationship between trova –with its practices and representations– and the drug trafficking phenomenon within a specific territory.

Keywords : Antioquian trova; Troubadour; Drug trafficking; Popular culture; Anchors.
