Abstract
CALONGE REILLO, Fernando. Sentidos del lugar en un vecindario de clase popular ante la desatención gubernamental, Guadalajara, México. Poblac. soc. [online]. 2023, vol.30, n.2, pp.34-60. ISSN 0328-3445. http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.19137/pys-2023-300202.
Various studies in developed countries have shown the emergence of feelings of nostalgia in working-class neighborhoods that underwent deindustrialization and the withdrawal of the Welfare State. However, such research is scarce in developing countries. This article analyzes the emergence of these senses of place in Zalatitán -a working-class neighborhood in Guadalajara- by relying primarily on ethnographic work. Faced with the retreat of the Welfare State, these spaces reveal a prolonged government neglect which has fostered senses of abandonment, degradation or fear.
