Abstract
MARTINEZ MUNOZ, María Luisa and GARCIA REYES, David. May the dead bury their dead: death, violence and animals in La Virgen de los sicarios (novel and film). Cuad. CILHA [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.2, pp.51-69. ISSN 1852-9615.
La Virgen de los sicarios (1994) by Fernando Vallejo engages in conversation with the author's obsessions and formerly covered themes in the El río del tiempo pentalogy and in his subsequent narrative and essayistic production. This study approaches the only work of Vallejo that has been taken to the cinema; the film (2000), directed by Barbet Schroeder, allows us to appreciate the author's particular language in his role as a script writer and how both, the literary and filmic texts, express Vallejo's special vision on life, Colombia, violence, death and animals.
