Abstract

The first Hungarian translation of texts by Jorge Luis Borges was published 45 years ago in 1972 as part of the science fiction series Kozmosz - fantasztikus könyvek (“Cosmos-fantastic books), while the last one in 2017, in an anthology (the series called Metagalaktika, “Metagalactic) edited practicaly by the same publishing house. The series was reborn in the years of 2000 with the aim of keeping the genre science fiction alive. The purpose of the paper is to study how science fiction as a context influences the reception of texts and the figure of Borges in Hungary, that is, give an image about this special way how the Argentine writer appears in the Hungarian literary criticism.
