Abstract

BARRIOS LARA, José Luis. Stroke, distortion, aberraction (Francis Alÿs). Cuad. CILHA [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.2, pp.267-290. ISSN 1852-9615.  http://dx.doi.org/10.48162/rev.34.024.

The essay analyzes the video work of visual artist Francis Alÿs. From Deleuze's aesthetic-philosophical perspective on cinema, this work proposes an approach to Alÿs's work based on the concept of image-affection. The argument of this article seeks to show that the relationship between performance and movement-image generates a paradox between the poetic image and the documentary image, which turns the image into an intensive surface, where affectation matters more than the representation.

Keywords : Affectation; Movement-image; Contemporary Art.
