Abstract

QUINTANA MARTINEZ, Ignacio; ROSERO CUESTA, David Santiago; SARRIA OCTAVIO DE TOLEDO, Luis  and  DEL VALLE SANCHEZ, Elena. Usefulness of imaging techniques in the diagnosis of congenital hepatic fibrosis: A case report. Rev. argent. radiol. [online]. 2013, vol.77, n.2. ISSN 1852-9992.  http://dx.doi.org/10.7811/rarv77n2a10.

Congenital hepatic fibrosis is a rare congenital multisystemic disease, included in the group of fibropolicystic diseases, mainly affecting the hepatobiliary system. Its presentation is often unspecific, and its diagnosis becomes challenging. We report the case of a 29-year-old patient evaluated for asymptomatic hepatomegaly, with no apparent relevant medical history. Even if the final diagnosis was made by liver biopsy, imaging findings provided an adequate approach to diagnosis.

Keywords : Congenital hepatic fibrosis; Caroli disease; Magnetic resonance cholangio-pancreatography; Liver cirrhosis.
