Digital mammography solved many of the problems associated with analog mammography. A frequently used option to migrate to direct digital technique is to digitize analog equipment. Characteristics which must be taken into account to digitize an analog mammography and get the most advantages of the process, the best picture and the lowest dose possible consistent with optimal contrast and lower noise are described.
