Abstract

SOLANA, Mariela. Reflexiones sobre el giro afectivo en historia queer. Mora (B. Aires) [online]. 2016, vol.22, n.1, pp.00-00. ISSN 1853-001X.

This paper explores the so called "affective turn" in queer history. By engaging in a close reading of selected work by Elizabeth Freeman, Carolyn Dinshaw and Heather Love, it seeks, on the one hand, to give an account of the specificities of this new way to approach the history of dissident sexuality and, on the other hand, to identify some of its key contributions. For this, this paper examines the use of certain figures and metaphors in the work of the aforementioned queer thinkers in order to understand more clearly how they characterize historical discourses and the relation between the past and the present. Secondly, it argues that the main contribution of this affective turn in queer history is that it manages to challenge a set of classic dichotomies in philosophy of history: distance/nearness; presence/absence; identity/difference; feelings/thoughts.

Keywords : Affective Turn; History of Sexuality; Queer Theory; Emotions; Philosophy of History.
