Abstract

A catalog of the type specimens found and a list of the species of the family Cossidae preserved in the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales “Bernardino Rivadavia” is presented herein. Fourteen nominal species belong to 64 type specimens are represented. The list of species is based on the examination of 475 specimens belonging to 22 genera and 53 species, within five subfamilies. In the mentioned list, the geographic distribution of each species in Argentina and other countries of America is provided. Photographs of fourteen nominal species are presented.
