Abstract
CARBONELLI, Juan Pablo. La fuente escrita, espacio de confrontación. Zaranda ideas [online]. 2010, vol.6, pp.9-23. ISSN 1853-1296.
In this paper we address the role of written sources in the epistemology and methodology of archeology of historic times and analyze the relationship they have had with different theoretical frameworks. We question the exclusive use of written sources as generators of hypotheses, since we consider that documents are factual categories of equal weight as any other artifact. Thus, written sources are part of the archaeological record and therefore play an important role in the explanation and the understanding of man's past. We propose an epistemological approach to work with both types of objects, written documents and artifacts, using a particular and universal rationality (Hernandez 1993). Finally, we will investigate the relationship of the Archeology of Historical Moments with History, seeking for a mutual enrichment and taking apart borders with prehistory.
