Abstract

EGEA, Débora. Lithic technologicals practices of societies from eastern Catamarca during the second half of the first millenia A.C. Zaranda ideas [online]. 2016, vol.14, n.1, pp.55-70. ISSN 1853-1296.

At the El Alto-Ancasti mountains (Catamarca) there are a large number of caves with rock art manifestations. The initial analysis of lithic technology obtained from the excavation of one of this caves (Oyola 7), informs us about the use of local raw materials, the manufacture of multiple type of instruments and the presence of the last stages of lithic production sequence. By other side, the comparison of this lithic set with the one obtained at El Taco 19, domestic compound chronologically contemporary, allows us to evaluate the way these lithicartifacts couldgive information about the human societies at each settlement. The analysis is oriented to contribute to the understanding of societies who inhabit eastern Catamarca during the second half of first millennia of the age. This implies a relevant contribution around a slightly treated thematic at the area, where the investigations were focused mainlyonrock art manifestations.

Keywords : Lithic technology; Quartz; Social practices; Rock art; El Alto-Ancasti mountains.
