Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the discursive practices of pedagogues, doctors, judges and specialists around the issue of female criminality, based on the observation of the journal Archivos de Criminología, Medicina Legal y Psiquiatría, directed by José Ingenieros between 1902 and 1913. First, the pedagogical discourses around the so-called sexual differences between males and females are examined, with the purpose of analyzing the so considered female attributes, and the particularities about female crime. Secondly, this criminality is explored from Argentine medical-legal ideas, specifically from the psychopathological determinations, taking into account the moral, impulsive and intellectual factors, categories considered by the Ingenieros himself. Al this, in order to track the construction of female dangerousness, and based on this construction, the tensions that apper in the journal around this criterion of repression.
