Abstract

DAINOTTO, Rodolfo Edgardo. Buenos Aires Audience and the Government of Tucumán: between provincial and regional policies, 1660-1674*. Rev. hist. derecho [online]. 2020, n.60, pp.1-35. ISSN 1853-1784.

The paper analyzes the policies designed by the Court for the maritime coast of the viceroyalty of Peru, with its port in Buenos Aires, and for the consolidation of the borders with the non-submitted nations in the province of Tucumán, during the beginning of the second half of the 17th century. It is when the enemy powers of the Monarchy calculate the enormous benefits of their conquest. The mechanisms for obtaining local resources and energies that were provided to the Audience and that collided with the border policies of Tucumán, are studied. The issue of smuggling deserves emphasis as a determinant of metropolitan actions in the region. At the local level, the focus is on the strategies developed in Tucumán to consolidate the conquest and incorporate labor by retracting resources required by the Audiencia.

Keywords : audience; governors; North Sea.
